HIMALAYA GUIDES are different in that we are a Nepali owned and run
company. These mountains are our home and we take great enjoyment in experiencing them with climbers and trekkers from
all over the world.
We definitely have the "home ground advantage". We gained our experience and qualifications on the highest peaks in the world,
developing techniques specific to high altitude climbing.
To ensure we are well-rounded climbers we have further sought international climbing experience and qualifications - climbing and guiding on technical alpine-scale mountains
(including winter seasons) and honing our ice climbing.
Company director and lead guide Tshering Phande Bhote was already an accomplished Himalayan guide, having guided clients twice to the top of Sagarmatha - Mt Everest, before making several trips to New Zealand and
France to become the first Nepali to gain the international UIAGM-affiliated mountain guides' qualification. In the process he excelled in all areas of technical climbing,
putting up a new route on the south face of Mt Cook, making the first ascent (and in winter) of the east face headwall of Haidinger, and soloing the classic steep south face of Douglas Peak (also in winter).
We have qualifications from the NMA, NMIA, NNMGA, KEEP, NTB, HRA, TAAN,
ECO-HIMAL, NZMGA, PZS, BMC, NATHM, RONAST, CNR, ENSA and IFMGA.

Tshering
Pande Bhote has been climbing since 1996, starting on the 8000m
mountains in the Himalaya. He is one of the few internationally qualified mountain guides
from south Asia, gaining his qualification from the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association (NZMGA). He has successfully guided Mt Everest on multiple occasions,
and other 8000m peaks such as 8201m Mt Cho-oyu (three times) and 8013m Sisha Pangma.
Tshering Phande Bhote has strong international climbing experience and
talent for the logistics and planning that are so crucial to adventures in the Himalaya and around the world. He has climbed
in New Zealand, Norway, France, Scotland, Thailand, Bhutan, Pakistan,
India and Tibet. He has diverse skills (being a technical radio and computer
geek, a supreme technical alpine climber and guide!) that give him what it takes
to put together an experience that you will remember for the rest
of your life.
