Lhotse (8,516m) peak is the part of the
Everest Massif. Lhotse is sometimes thought of as a small peak on the shoulder of Mt Everest, but is in fact the fourth highest
peak in the world, boasting a massive and very steep 3200m south face - the world's largest steep face. The climbing
route we take is the same as that for Mt Everest, until we branch off between
the South Col and Camp III. Our route on Lhotse is the standard southern
line. We have operated many expeditions to the mountain with great success.
The itinerary
The Lhotse expedition takes 40 days. The first few are your arrival in Kathmandu followed by the expedition briefing & preparation.
We then fly to Lukla and trek to Lhotse base camp via Namche, Tengboche, Pheriche and Luboche. Our climbing days are 11-33 of the expedition.
We reverse the trek and flight back to Lukla and Kathmandu, usually arriving on day 39.
Is this trip suitable for you?
Lhotse is the fourth highest mountain in the world and is not
easy. It is a very serious peak and bad judgement or even bad luck can be fatal.
Himalaya Guides is a professionally led "non-guided" expedition for experienced mountaneers who
want to work as part of a team to tackle the mountain. We say "non-guided"
because, compared to guiding operations on alpine-scale peaks such the European Alps, our leader and climbing Sherpa team working with you will not be
able to protect your every move. You must therefore have broad mountaineering experience
so that you are capable and willing to move
between camps unassisted. You will have good support on the mountain from
our climbing leader and Sherpa team. Our guiding and climbing experience can be viewed here.
