Trip Overview

Ama Dablam (6,856m) is regarded as one of the worldโ€™s most beautiful and sought-after peaks, along side the Matterhorn and Khan Tengri. The experienced mountaineer will find the South East Ridge, which is the easiest route on the mountain, a good challenge.

The ascent to Camp One at 5800m is quite straight forward, from which point the climb gradually steepens as we move onto the rocky Southwest Ridge. The final approach to the summit is on snow slopes up to 45 degrees. We have had good summit success on all our previous expeditions.

Highly recommended!Top Himalaya Guides is run by Tshering Pande Bhote and Chhidar Lama, both highly respected individuals. Tshering was my guide on Everest in 2004 and Chhidar is on the Board of WHY, an educational charity for Bhote people that I started in 2012. They both contribute considerably to their community and run an honest and professional business. Both have been working in Norway during the summer season for many years now and are well aquinted to Scandinavian life and habits.

Tshering is as legit as they come! We had the pleasure of spending 3 days climbing with him near Kathmandu and had a phenomenal time! Heโ€™s an incredibly experienced mountain guide who was always happy to share his knowledge with us but at the same time very humble. Also just a funny dude lol. Would definitely go back for more climbing/mountaineering with him.

My partner and I had a great trek and climbing experience with Top Himalaya Guides.Participated on Himalaya Five Peaks Technical Climbing Course with Ama Dablam, which offered a great trek through the Khumbu valley and other nearby valleys, in addition to climbing several peaks. The highlight of the tour was to climb Ama Dablam. The service was exceptional, way above what we expected. The owner Tshering Pande Bhote is really well connected and provides a really flexible itinerary to adapt to changes that might occur. We can highly recommend using Top Himalaya Guides!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this Trip Suitable For You?

Ama Dablam is a serious climb requiring extensive use of ropes and equipment. If your climbing experience is limited or your skills are in need of a tune-up, we prefer you to join us beforehand for our Himalayan Three Peaks trip. This would allow you to pre-acclimatise and ensure a thorough brush-up on skills for your ascent.

Himalaya Guides Trekking & Mountain Adventures is a professionally led โ€œnon-guidedโ€ expedition for experienced mountaineers who want to work as part of a team to tackle the mountain. We say โ€œnon-guidedโ€ because, compared to guiding operations on alpine-scale peaks such as the European Alps, our leader and climbing Sherpa team working with you will not be able to protect your every move. You must therefore have broad mountaineering experience so that you are capable and willing to move between camps unassisted. You will have good support on the mountain from our climbing leader and the team.

Are permits or guides required?

Yes, permits and Nepali guides are required for all trekking regions and all climbing expeditions. We handle all necessary permits, including trekking, conservation area, and climbing permits.

How do I book a trip with Top Himalaya Guides?

You can book a trip directly through our website. A deposit is required to confirm your booking, and the remaining balance can be paid before the trip begins.

What type of accommodation is provided?

Accommodation varies depending on the trek. In cities we use the best hotels. In popular regions, we use comfortable tea houses and lodges. In more remote areas, camping may be necessary.

Can I customize my trip?

Absolutely! We offer fully customizable itineraries to suit your interests, number of people, fitness level, and schedule. We provide an experienced guide whichever way you want to experience the mountains.

What safety measures do you take?

Safety is our top priority. Our guides are experienced and IFMGA and NNMGA certified, and they carry the best gears to ensure safety. We also monitor weather conditions and make decisions with your safety in mind.

What is your cancellation policy?

Generally, cancellations close to the departure date incur higher charges. Please refer to our detailed cancellation policy on our website.
